EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contractor of the project, Saif Port Holdings Ltd has chosen Bashundhara Group for supplying the cement and stone for the development of the jetties at the port.

A deal was signed in this regard at Bashundhara Industrial Headquarters in the city on Monday.
Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Saif PowerTec Director Tarafder Md Ruhul Saif signed the agreement in the presence of Bashundhara Group Vice Chairman Safwan Sobhan.

Bashundhara Group sector-C Chief Financial Officer Mirza Mujahidul Islam, Bashundhara Cement Chief Marketing Officer Khandker Kingshuk Hossain, Saif PowerTec Directors Mohammad Aminuzzaman, Altaf Hossain, Major Jahidur Rahman, Executive Director Farukh Ahmed Khan, project coordinator Farhad Hossain were also present on the occasion.

According to the agreement, Bashundhara Industrial Complex Ltd will supply cement and Bashundhara Multi Trading Ltd will supply stones to the project being managed by Saif Port Holdings.

E-Engineering, a concern of Saif PowerTec, will construct the jetties and Saif Port Holdings will maintain the operations of the jetties for the next 30 years. The company handles 55 per cent of containers in the Chattogram Port.

Officials informed that Saif PowerTec has shown confidence on Bashundhara Cement, which produces high-configured clinker and maintains strong distribution management from the largest manufacturing plant of its kind.

Saif PowerTec also picked the best quality stones imported by Bashundhara Group for the mega project. Mentionable, most of the mega projects in the country use Bashundhara Cement and stones.

Mongla Port Authorities have appointed Saif PowerTec in April this year to construct and maintenance of two jetties at Mongla Port as part of a public-private partnership (PPP) initiative.
